On World Entrepreneurs Day, meet Neetish Sarda, the entrepreneur who has changed the Indian office experience

World Entrepreneurs' Day is observed annually on August 21 - a day designated to honour innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership around the globe. Not only is entrepreneurship critical for job creation, but it is also a crucial and fundamental component of our nation's economic expansion and problem-solving. 

Every great company has a founder who overcame challenges head-on and persisted in their resolve long enough to see their vision through to completion. One such entrepreneur is Neetish Sarda, who has built a sustainable business and scaled it to India's largest flex space through sheer focus, hard work and perseverance.

The story of Smartworks began in April 2016 with the dream of a young guy studying abroad who was determined to transform the conventional office experience in India for every working professional. Despite coming from a business family, Neetish decided to carve out and follow his entrepreneurial route, putting his trust in creativity and vision. This was the start of India's most preferred flexible space, which started in Delhi with a 10,000 square foot office, ten staff, and a competitive market with well-known domestic and international operators.

Fast Forward to 2022, Smartworks is a leader in the flex spaces and has achieved a growing footprint of over 7 Mn sq. ft, a presence in 11 cities with 38 locations, and an increasing base of over 500 enterprise clients with a leading market share. This fiscal, Smartworks aims to add 3 Mn sq. ft to its portfolio and take its overall footprint to 10 mn sq. ft. With historic expansion last fiscal, the company recently leased the world's largest flex space campus, 7 lac sq.ft., Vaishnavi Tech Park in Bengaluru, which is already 50% pre-booked. In the company statement, Neetish stated, "In keeping with our mission to provide the greatest workspaces and experiences in large-format, fully managed spaces, VTP represents a new milestone for us. We broke our record for leasing large independent flex spaces to enable a holistic office experience, increasing from 6.4 lakh square feet last year in Pune to this newest centre in one of the largest office markets in India". 

From floors to leasing large independent commercial office spaces/ campuses to enable a holistic office experience with a plethora of amenities and services in a tech-enabled work environment, Neetish indeed is transforming the workspace experience for office goers. Under his leadership, the company has achieved many industry-leading recognitions. It has been part of the coveted The Economic Times India's Growth Champions 2022 and Financial Times' Asia- Pacific High-Growth Companies 2022 ranking. 

Per Neetish, there is no shortcut to success; only hard work, focus, and the belief that your product is improving lives. He believes the world is full of infinite possibilities, and one needs to have an intuitive mind and a passionate heart to make a mark for yourself.
